Highlighting the Medical Impact of Road Crashes and Signing the Pledge - Friday 28 May 2010
In a partnership between the Bays Community Hospital and the Mornington Peninsula Shire, Bays Community Hospital on Main Street, Mornington, Victoria will be setting up a display of 230 items of medical equipment on Fatality Free Friday. Organiser Robin Tiffany recognised the impact of the FFF 'shoes' displays and decided to stage a similar display highlighting the average number of people seriously injured on Mornington Peninsula Shire Roads each year - 230 serious injuries on top of 10 fatalities.
11am to 1pm Event_Details: Every year on average 230 people are seriously injured on the Mornington Peninsula Shire Roads. The 230 items of medical equipment will represent the people injured and the effort spent in treatment of them. Peninsula DriveSafe will invite every one who attends the display to sign a public pledge to drive safely to reduce this number. The Mornington Peninsula Shire will issue a press release and publish a public invitation to attend the event and sign the public pledge banner drawing attention to Road Safety for that day.
